Lafontaine, ON (June 5, 2009) – Bruce Stanton, M.P. for Simcoe North, was joined by representatives of La Meute Culturelle de Lafontaine today to announce that the Government of Canada will be providing $27,300.00 in funding for the annual Festival du Loup.
“It’s great to see the federal government supporting Le Festival du Loup, so we can continue to honour and celebrate our rich Francophone heritage in the area”, Bruce Stanton, M.P. said.
For the seventh consecutive summer, La Meute Culturelle de Lafontaine has received financial assistance for Le Festival du Loup This year, the Festival will take place from July 17th -19th, and will include traditional music by local artist, arts and crafts, aboriginal dance, and numerous other celebrations of Francophone culture. The Government of Canada created the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program in September 2007. This program provides Canadians with more opportunities to take part in local activities that present arts and culture and celebrate local history and heritage. This program will benefit many community events and celebrations throughout Canada this year.
