CANADA—ONTARIO PARTNERSHIP CREATES JOBS, STIMULATES ECONOMY IN SIMCOE NORTH

Residents of Ramara, Orillia, and Severn will benefit from federal and provincial infrastructure funding announced today by Bruce Stanton, M.P. These projects are just a few examples of both governments’ commitment to stimulating the Ontario economy through the creation of jobs in our communities.
 
These projects include

  • In Ramara, the federal and provincial governments will each invest just over $1 million for the expansion of Firehall # 2, water meters and improvements to Sideroad 15 & Concession B in Ramara.
  • In Orillia, each government will invest $666,666 for the Albany Avenue rehabilitation.
  • In Severn, both provincial and federal governments will contribute $200,000 for upgrades to Fairgrounds road.                                                                                                                                          
“Under the leadership of Prime Minister Stephen Harper, our Government is getting shovels in the ground and flowing money faster to stimulate the economy and create jobs for Ontarians,” said Bruce Stanton, M.P. Simcoe North. “Thanks to the strong relationship between our two governments, we can work together to help Ontario communities and the economy thrive immediately and in the future.”

"These projects are important infrastructure initiatives that will put people to work; stimulate the economy of Simcoe County and produce much needed buildings, roads and wastewater treatment improvements," said Aileen Carroll MPP Barrie.

Mayor Bill Duffy of the Township of Ramara, Mayor Ron Stevens of the City of Orillia, and Mayor Phil Sled of the Township of Severn joined M.P. Stanton along with several Councillors from the three municipalities to announce the funding this morning at the Ramara Firehall #2.  Each of the Mayors gave brief remarks welcoming these important investments for their communities.
 
These projects are three of the 1400 across the province that will break ground thanks to $3.4 billion in joint federal and provincial funding. . The governments of Canada and Ontario have taken steps to get shovels in the ground and to flow money faster for targeted infrastructure projects starting in the 2009 construction season.
