FedDev Ontario supporting southern Ontario economic recovery
Perkinsfield, Ontario — Bruce Stanton, MP for Simcoe North, today announced that two projects throughout Simcoe North will move forward thanks to an investment of more than $400,000 from the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario) to stimulate local economies.
“This investment will provide much-needed stimulus funding to support our region’s ongoing economic resurgence,” said MP Bruce Stanton. “I am pleased that this funding will allow businesses in Simcoe North to develop and become more competitive and secure for new market opportunities.”
“We are thrilled to be receiving this funding. Event Water Solutions will use this investment to further our business vision and environmental goals of eliminating the use of plastic water bottles at festivals and events,” said Paul Baker, Owner of Event Water Solutions Inc. in Orillia.
“We are very pleased to receive this funding which will allow the Huronia Airport Commission to proceed with one of its key initiatives to construct badly needed hangar space for private and corporate clients. This project will create local construction employment and better position the airport as an economic driving force in the community. Rental revenue generated by the new hangars will also provide additional funding in support of airport operations. In addition to providing regular airport facilities and services, the Huronia Municipal Airport provides an important community base for local medevac and search and rescue operations as well as a vital link in and out of Huronia in the event of a major natural disaster, which could cut off all ground based access to the area.” George Cornell, Chair –Huronia Airport Commission
I would also like to thank Bruce Stanton our MP for his support on this project and Debra Muenz, General Manager of the North Simcoe Community Futures Development Corporation (NSCFDC) for her support and guidance through the application process. I would also like to acknowledge the hard work and commitment of our airport manager John Smith and my fellow Commissioners in support of this project, in particular Commissioners Don Cooper and Ken Woods.”
This project will be funded through the Community Adjustment Fund, a two-year, $1-billion national program aimed at addressing the short-term economic needs of communities hit hardest by the global economic recession. The approved project must meet the terms and conditions set out in the contribution agreement.
